PORTLAND, Ore. — Sen. Bob Packwood (R-Ore.) has filed for divorce from his wife of 25 years, Georgie, citing irreconcilable differences.
The senator’s Washington, D.C., office issued a statement in which Packwood said the temporary separation they entered into in January “has not led to a reconciliation.”
The statement said Packwood “expressed disappointment that their differences could not be worked out.”
The petition for dissolution of marriage was filed Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court. It asks the court to distribute the couple’s assets equitably and to require the senator to pay child support for his 18-year-old daughter, Shyla, while she is a student. The couple also has a son, William, 23.
