West Hollywood : Heilman Becomes Mayor

City Councilman John Heilman was installed as the city’s mayor Monday night, replacing Councilwoman Abbe Land, who completed her one-year rotation in the largely honorary post.
The position of mayor is rotated among the five council members. Heilman, who has been on the council for 5 1/2 years, was mayor in 1985. Mayor Pro Tem Paul Koretz was to have replaced Land but turned down the post because of work commitments.
