CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : COALINGA : Boy, Grandfather Apparently Drown

Divers searched the California Aqueduct south of Coalinga for the bodies of a 7-year-old boy and his grandfather, who were believed to have drowned. Their names were not released. Witnesses told Fresno County sheriff’s deputies that the boy fell into the aqueduct while playing on the bank and that his grandfather, 65, went into the water in an attempt to rescue him, but that both were swept away by the current.
