Warring gang rivals, one firing a semiautomatic rifle and the other a shotgun in a deadly cross-fire, fatally wounded a 23-year-old woman in a violence-plagued neighborhood in Long Beach, police said Wednesday.
The victim, Sandra Jean Lacy, was sitting in front of her mother’s apartment late Tuesday night when a gunman, hiding in a nearby alley, fired 15 rounds at a rival, who returned fire with a shotgun. The blast from the shotgun fatally wounded Lacy. Both gunmen fled.
The young woman was the first victim in three days of shootings reported in the 1500 and 1600 blocks of Chestnut Avenue.
