OAK VIEW : Bones May Be Those of ’69 Flood Victim

Human bones and teeth found on an Oak View hillside Monday are probably the remains of a 1969 flood victim, the coroner said Tuesday.
Authorities never found a woman reported missing during a January flood in the area about 21 years ago, Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate said. Wingate attempted to contact possible family members Tuesday.
While helping a driver on Monday who had plunged off California 33, rescue crews discovered a skull about 60 feet down a steep hillside on the southeast corner of the highway’s intersection with Creek Road.
After the accident rescue, about 10 members of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department’s Search and Rescue Squad, four detectives and the coroner combed the area and found leg, finger and rib bones as well as five teeth.
The bones belonged to a 30- to 50-year-old woman, Wingate said.
