Golden Lion Award: New works by directors Martin Scorsese and James Ivory are among 21 movies competing for the Golden Lion Award at the Venice film festival in September, organizers said Monday. Scorsese’s “Goodfellas” and Ivory’s “Mr. and Mrs. Bridge” are among the strongest entrants, along with British playwright Tom Stoppard’s film version of his 1967 stage play “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.”
