Singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson was charged this week in Beverly Hills with misdemeanor drunk driving and driving without the proper insurance earlier this month.
Nilsson, 49, of Bel-Air, was arrested July 6 by the California Highway Patrol in Beverly Hills, Deputy Dist. Atty. Eldon Fox said. His blood-alcohol level was tested twice and registered .24 and .23, well above the .08 legal intoxication limit for motorists, Fox said.
The singer, freed on his own recognizance, was charged with two counts of drunk driving and one count of driving without the proper insurance, all misdemeanors.
Nilsson’s arraignment in Beverly Hills Municipal Court has been postponed until Aug. 30.
