Childless Couples--What They Must Face
I think it’s time we pay attention to the feelings of the childless couples and what they go through.
If anybody is being used, it’s them. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a book awaiting in the wings or a TV movie--at the expense of Mark and Chris Calvert.
Anna Johnson’s lawyers (“Surrogate Mother Sues to Keep Couple’s Child,” Aug. 14) say that the contract is not valid because it amounts to selling a baby. I don’t see it as such.
The baby is genetically Mark’s and Chris’.
It’s their baby.
Miss Johnson voluntarily entered this contract to have their baby for them.
She knew what she was getting into.
It’s hard to believe Miss Johnson’s statement that Mark and Chris will be unfit and uncaring parents.
Anybody who would get this much money together and choose surrogacy as a last resort would have to really want to have this baby to love.
