Olson Industries Inc., whose sole operating unit, Dolco Packaging Corp., is reorganizing under federal bankruptcy laws, reported a $530,867 loss in the second quarter compared to a $914,730 loss a year earlier.
Dolco makes plastic packaging products, such as hamburger trays used by fast-food restaurants. Olson’s narrower deficit in the quarter that ended June 30 came on a 5% drop in sales, to $17.1 million from $17.9 million. Olson attributed the smaller loss to a decline in prices for resin, the major raw material used by Dolco Packaging.
For the first half of 1990, Olson earned $64,791 contrasted with a year-earlier loss of $1.58 million. Its six-month sales slipped to $36 million from $37 million.
