SANTA ANA — A 2-year-old girl was critically injured Thursday night after she ran in front of a pickup truck at the intersection of Shelton and Camille streets.
Lorrie Galvez was crossing the street to greet her father at about 7:15 p.m. when she was struck by the southbound pickup driven by Jesus Godoy Gutierrez, 27, of Santa Ana, Police Lt. Chuck Magdalena said.
“She ran to greet her father as he got out of his car and just didn’t see the truck,” Magdalena said.
The child received massive head injuries and was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where she was listed in critical condition.
Magdalena said that because there were no signs of excessive speed, alcohol or drugs, Gutierrez was not cited in the accident.
