A man who simulated a gun to abduct a woman was shot and wounded when his victim pulled a .357 magnum out of a drawer where she said she had money, police said today.
The woman had stopped her Mercedes-Benz for a red light at Franklin Avenue and Argyle Street in Hollywood about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when a man opened the unlocked passenger door and got in, pretending to have a gun and ordering her to drive home, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Tammy Tatreau said.
At her home, he found a knife in the kitchen and threatened her while demanding money. He also struck her in the head as they walked through the house.
She told him that she had money in a drawer, and he allowed her to open it and reach in. Instead of money, she pulled out a .357 magnum and fired at him five times, striking him four times in the arm and stomach, Tatreau said.
