DUESSELDORF, West Germany — The St. Louis Blues easily downed West Germany’s best hockey squad Thursday night, defeating Duesseldorf EG 3-1.
The match was the first time an NHL team has played on European ice. The Blues came over with other NHL teams, including the Stanley Cup champion Edmonton Oilers, for a series of exhibition games in Europe and the Soviet Union.
Two other NHL teams, the Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota North Stars, will tour the Soviet Union later this month.
