FIRST DEGREE: Supervisor Harriett M. Wieder’s reelection brochure shows her wearing cap and gown and holding a college diploma. Turns out that it’s a Pepperdine University honorary degree awarded this year. . . . Won’t the photo revive memories of a 1988 controversy involving a college degree that Wieder--not a graduate--had claimed for 25 years? “We feel there are tens of thousands of voters who don’t have long memories,” a campaign spokesman says.
