A teen-ager walking in a Camarillo park was slashed with a knife Sunday after he refused to fight with apparent gang members, officials said.
Derick Williams, 19, of Oxnard was walking in Dos Caminos Park at 6:30 p.m. when he was approached by seven young men who challenged him to fight, said Sgt. Paul Oechsle of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
When he declined, he was slashed in the wrist when one of the men pulled out a knife, Oechsle said. Williams received five stitches at Pleasant Valley Hospital, Oechsle said.
