The state has awarded a three-year, $315,000 grant to All Saints AIDS Service Center in Pasadena to educate recent prison parolees living in the San Gabriel Valley about the dangers of AIDS and how to reduce their risk of contracting or transmitting the disease.
Participants are from the Alhambra and Covina offices, where officials estimate that 75% of the parolees are intravenous drug users and that 20% to 30% engaged in homosexual activity while imprisoned. The grant also provides AIDS education and training for law enforcement, correctional and parole officers.
