Temple City : Limits for Rosemead Blvd.
New mini-malls and drive-through restaurants are now taboo along the east side of Rosemead Boulevard between Las Tunas Drive and Broadway, under restrictions imposed Tuesday by the city’s Redevelopment Agency.
Mini-malls and drive-throughs are specifically banned. Other restrictions include a requirement that projects in the redevelopment zone must be on sites of at least one acre. Developers must devote 10% of their lots to landscaping and offer an average of 10 parking spaces per business.
The one-acre minimum is intended to encourage larger developments, but several property owners said it would make development very difficult. Because there are no available one-acre lots, they said, builders would have to obtain one or more neighboring parcels to build anything new.
