La Verne : Oldtown Business Grants
Business owners will soon be able to apply for city grants to renovate building facades or to establish or expand businesses in Oldtown.
Oldtown is a redevelopment area along D Street from 5th Street to Arrow Highway and on 3rd Street from B to E streets.
The Redevelopment Agency approved the Oldtown Partnership Program Monday, funding it with $50,000 for the 1990-91 fiscal year. The money will be available though a competitive grant process in early 1991.
Grants for facade improvements will be limited to $2,500 per site and grants to establish businesses will be limited to businesses listed as desirable by the agency. There were no criteria listed for desirability, but officials said that generally meant profitable. Money will also be available for training programs for Oldtown merchants.
