Downey : School Board Vacancy to Be Filled by Appointment
- Share via
A vacant seat on the nine-member Board of Education of the Downey Unified School District will be filled by appointment, a district official announced this week.
The Area 5 seat was vacated by veteran board member Walter S. Temple, who resigned Sept. 30 because he moved out of the school district.
Applications for the post will be accepted until Oct. 24. To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old, registered to vote in Los Angeles County, and residents of the district’s Area 5. Most of Area 5 is south of Firestone Boulevard, between Rives Avenue and Lakewood Boulevard.
The board is expected to fill the vacancy before the end of November. The appointment will be for one year, until the district’s next regular election in November, 1991.
