North Korea Protests ‘Provocation’

TOKYO — North Korea has protested against “unceasing provocative acts” by soldiers of the U.S.-led United Nations force at the border village of Panmunjom, the North Korean Central News Agency said Friday.
The protest at alleged provocations in Panmunjom’s joint security area was made by the senior member of the North Korean delegation to the Military Armistice Commission in a message to his U.S. counterpart, said KCNA, monitored in Tokyo.
The message accused U.N. guards of “shouting and making unseemly gestures” at North Korean personnel on three occasions Wednesday.
The guards obstructed the performance of duty by northern personnel Wednesday and Thursday, “turning on a flashlight toward our personnel on scores of times,” it said.
KCNA quoted the northern representative as saying the U.N. force was “committing more malicious provocations, infiltrating fighter planes into our airspace and scattering many copies of propaganda literatures against the North in the joint security area.”
