NATION : Nuns Forgive Thief’s Bad Habit

OMAHA — Talk about turning the other cheek: Fifteen nuns say they forgive a man who stole their Social Security checks after they let him into their convent to pray.
Sister Teresita of the Contemplative Sisters of the Good Shepherd said the uncashed checks, worth $2,489, were found at a nearby post office Friday, hours after they were stolen.
The 15 nuns, who range in age from 68 to 84, each had a check stolen. The checks ranged from $110 to $203.
They reported that a well-dressed man knocked on the front door of their convent and asked to use the chapel. The nuns refused his request for money, but gave him something to eat. After he left, the nuns realized that the checks, which had been lying with other mail on a table, were missing.
