Free entertainment from Great Britain will highlight the opening Saturday and Sunday of the Orange County Festival of Britain, a combination arts festival/retail promotion.
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, three stages at Town Center Park in Costa Mesa will showcase a variety of performers. They include musicians Iain Matthews, John Wesley Harding and Laurence Juber (a former member of Paul McCartney’s band Wings); comic-mime Les Bubb; and the Mums, performance artists. Punch-and-Judy shows and other entertainment for children will also be presented.
On Saturday only, at 2 p.m. at Edwards Town Center Cinema, Julie Andrews will host a “Mary Poppins Tea Party.” Also on Saturday, there will be a procession led by the Royal Highland Fusiliers pipe and drum band. Among those expected to be in attendance: Princess Alexandra.
