Police arrested a Ventura teen-ager in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl at an area football field Wednesday night, authorities said.
The 13-year-old boy is being held at Juvenile Hall on suspicion of one count of rape, Detective Douglas Auldridge of the Ventura Police Department said.
The girl lives at a home run by the Poinsettia Foundation, a nonprofit agency that houses juveniles from broken homes or with discipline problems. She left her group home near Loma Vista Road and Victoria Avenue with three boys from the foundation, according to Auldridge and the foundation’s executive director.
The foursome stopped at McDonald’s on Telegraph Road and then went to the Buena High School football field at 5670 Telegraph Road, where one of the boys reportedly raped her about 9:50 p.m. The other two boys were about 100 yards away and not involved, Auldridge said.
Children in the foundation’s care are not permitted to be off the grounds without supervision.
