Cuban Journalists Ask More Freedom

HAVANA — The president of Cuba’s Journalists’ Union has called for more freedom and openness in Cuban journalism, saying the existing official media have “exhausted its possibilities.”

Garcia made clear that he was not advocating the creation of an opposition press or change in Cuba’s one-party Communist system.
