Countywide : Conference to Weigh Preservation Issues

The third annual Orange County history conference Saturday will be devoted especially to issues involving county preservation.
Leland L. Estes, coordinator for the 9 a.m. event at Chapman College, said: “Los Angeles has become preservation conscious in the last four or five years, but Orange County has remained neutral.” “I’m hoping that we can get people to coalesce, and I think the conference is a start.”
The conference will include 27 panel discussions on such subjects as conserving the natural environment, the history of water in Orange and restoration of historic homes. A walking tour of historic residences in Old Towne Orange is also scheduled.
Representatives from the Laguna Canyon Conservancy and the Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance will lead discussions on land preservation.
