Heart-Attack Victim Thrown Out of Market

BALTIMORE — A man who suffered a fatal heart attack was dragged out of a grocery market on his stomach when the store manager mistook his semiconscious condition for drunkenness.
B&M; Market cashier Charelle M. White said the man was left outside for 20 minutes Thursday morning before paramedics were called. The victim, identified as James Drumright, 57, of Baltimore, died at Liberty Medical Center.
Paramedics said they could not determine if Drumright would have lived had he received medical assistance sooner.
Community activist Leslie Howard said the incident could inflame racial tensions because the store’s owners are Korean and the victim was black.
