Phosphoric Acid Spill at Los Angeles Harbor

About 1,000 gallons of phosphoric acid spilled as it was being unloaded from a railroad tank car Tuesday afternoon at a pier in Los Angeles Harbor, Fire Department officials said.
Thirty firefighters and a rescue ambulance were sent to 560 S. Pier A St. to aid in the three-hour cleanup of the spill, department spokesman Jim Wells said.
He said no injuries were reported.
Phosphoric acid is used commercially in fertilizers and as a flavoring in soft drinks.
