Beverly Hills : Art Replacement Offered
The Salmones Gallery has offered to replace the public sculpture that was destroyed by would-be thieves in Beverly Hills last month. The sculpture, titled the “Water Gods,” was torn away from its metal base, rendering it worthless, according to art appraisers.
Gallery officials said they would replace the sculpture by the late Mexican artist Victor Salmones at a cost of $45,000. Beverly Hills officials said they would accept the gift, as long as the gallery understood that the city would not assume liability for the Maltz Park artwork.
