Countywide : Truck Offered to Aid Avocado Patrols
- Share via
The California Avocado Commission has offered to donate a new four-wheel drive pickup so the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department can patrol avocado fields.
The County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve the commission’s donation of the vehicle Tuesday, along with the purchase of police radio equipment, for a total of $37,883.
Because of increased avocado thefts from fields, the commission has taken steps to help local law enforcement agencies in several Southern California counties. In Ventura County, the commission is providing up to $70,000 for increased law enforcement during 1990-1991.
