Supervisors Plan to File High Court Appeal Friday

Los Angeles County supervisors plan to file papers Friday asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review the county’s historic voting rights case and stay the Jan. 22 election in the redrawn 1st Supervisorial District.
The board previously had vowed to go to the Supreme Court in an attempt to overturn two lower court rulings that the supervisors discriminated against Latinos in drawing district boundaries.
County attorneys decided to file papers Friday after failing to hear back by Tuesday on their request for a review by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
