LONDON — Troops in Saudi Arabia were ordered to a raised state of alert due to fear of possible Iraqi retaliation for a U.N. resolution supporting use of force to free Kuwait, Britain’s Press Assn. news agency said today.
The agency said Air Raid Warning State Yellow, just one below full-scale attack alert, was in force for the first time.
Its report was by its correspondent with British forces in Saudi Arabia who said all troops were ordered to carry protective suits and respirators at all times.
