Hand-Wringing by Democrats

The recent elections were looked forward to as a chance to throw the bums out of office. The winds of political change were stirring and several incumbents were stepping up their campaigns in self-defense.
Surprisingly, several of these incumbents were not removed from office. Why? Because we, the voters, are fitting into the mold of apathy our Founding Fathers feared. Besides being uniformed, voters on the whole just don’t care. Thomas Jefferson was idealistic and wrong to think that the American public would actually make an extraordinary effort to participate in our political system. What a shame.
