SANTA ANA — A 15-year-old girl was shot in the face Thursday night during an apparent gang-related drive-by attack, police said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was treated at the scene by paramedics and was not transported to a hospital because her injury was not severe, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Roger Scharf said.
The incident occurred in the 5000 block of West 2nd Street about 10:30 p.m. While details of the shooting were sketchy, the victim apparently was not a target but was sitting inside a residence when she was hit by a bullet that passed through a window or a wall, police said.
There were no other victims and police had no suspects.
