Cimco Inc.: The Costa Mesa manufacturer of thermoplastic products and supplier of custom polymeric compounds said its second-quarter earnings climbed to $875,241 from $290,812 in the year-earlier period. Sales for the quarter ended Oct. 31 rose 14% to $16.4 million from $14.4 million. For the first half, earnings totaled $1.3 million, compared to $216,807 for the corresponding year-earlier period. Sales increased 19% to $30.8 million from $25.8 million. Russell T. Gilbert, president and chief executive, attributed the earnings gain to increased utilization of the company’s manufacturing plants, profits from plants in Corona and Charlotte, N.C., and improvement in manufacturing efficiency and productivity.
