Ratings Touchdown: ABC’s San Francisco 49ers-New York Giants telecast Monday night was seen in about 25.1 million households, making it the most-watched telecast in the 21-year history of “Monday Night Football.” San Francisco’s 7-3 win was seen in 42% of all homes using television. It qualified as only the second highest-rated game, however. The Dec. 2, 1985 Chicago Bears-Miami Dolphins game is still first. Monday’s telecast drew more viewers with a smaller rating because the value of a rating point increases each year as the number of homes with TV sets grows.
