The tragedy at the Del Mar station will only be compounded by the dumb, knee-jerk response of building a fence to block off the convenient access to the parking lot.
Instead of forcing people into the far greater risk of contending with traffic along Coast Boulevard and at the bottlenecked driveway into the station grounds, why not construct a permanent, safe, pedestrian crossing where there is now only a gap in the hedge?
