A boy and girl who were seriously injured over the weekend in separate car accidents remained hospitalized Sunday at the Ventura County Medical Center, a nursing official said.
Hugo Alcala, 8, who was hit by a car Saturday after he ran into an Oxnard intersection, was in stable condition.
The accident occurred when the boy apparently ran into traffic at Rose Avenue and San Gorgonio Street and hit the side of a car driven by Margaret Trevino, 29, Oxnard police said.
Trevino was cited for driving without a license. An investigation is continuing, police said.
The victim of the second incident, Cecilia Rodriquez, 17, was in serious condition after undergoing surgery at the medical center.
Cecilia, of Santa Paula, was knocked through a block fence Saturday after she was struck by a car driven by her father, Eduviges Rodriquez, Santa Paula police said.
No arrests were made and an investigation is continuing, police said.
