WESTLAND, Mich. — More than $20,000 has been donated to survivors of a fire over the weekend that killed a man and six of his nine children, officials said Monday.
“It’s coming in faster than we can count,” said Tom Keilman, a police chaplain.
Fire officials said the Saturday night blaze apparently was ignited by a fallen Christmas tree. The father, Martin Dell’Orco, 38, at first escaped the blaze, but he died after re-entering the burning house.
