Rock music fans looking for something to watch on television in the earliest hours of 1991 can catch a prize-winning performance by Orange County band Stikkitty. KCBS, Channel 2, will broadcast the nationally syndicated “Soundcheck--The Yamaha Rock Music Showcase” program Tuesday at 1:30 a.m., with Stikkitty one of five featured bands. The show is a playback of the Oct. 2 finals of “Soundcheck,” a national contest for unsigned rock bands that was decided with live performances at the Roxy in Hollywood. Stikkitty won the $10,000 first prize that night, and went on to win the $20,000 first prize in a subsequent international rock competition held in Tokyo.
Soundcheck is organizing another contest for 1991 (the annual competition’s fifth year). Unsigned rockers interested in entering can call (800) 451-ROCK for information.
