New York City Tribune Will Halt Publication a 2nd Time

NEW YORK — The New York City Tribune, founded by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in 1976, will suspend publication today for the second time in its history.
“I do not intend to bury the New York City Tribune. Maybe just let it rest,” said Philip V. Sanchez, the newspaper’s publisher.
Sanchez said in a statement that the city “is obviously not supporting the existing large papers and any contribution from the New York City Tribune might be better placed at a later date.”
Tom Zumbo, associate editor, said the recession affected the Tribune’s finances. The newspaper’s weekday circulation is 12,000, he said.
Newspaper officials will consider resuming publication when the recession eases, Zumbo said.
