SANTA ANA — The father of Santa Ana Councilman Richards L. Norton was robbed Monday morning by three masked gunmen as he opened his office for business, police said.
William Norton of Santa Ana was robbed about 6:30 a.m. as he unlocked the doors of the Norton Western Ltd. swap meet concessions business at 3309 S. Main St., police spokeswoman Maureen A. Haacker said.
“It appears that they may have been waiting for him,” Haacker said. “They forced him inside and forced him to open a locked safe. The loss hasn’t been determined.”
After the holdup, the bandits fled in Norton’s white 1990 GMC pickup, Haacker said. Police recovered the truck about an hour later parked illegally on South Main Street, Haacker said.
Norton was not harmed.
