Authorities searched today for any passengers aboard a 30-foot powerboat that capsized off Dockweiler State Beach.
The powerboat apparently ventured too close to a breakwater, flipped and capsized Monday night, authorities said.
The cabin cruiser was found overturned with its engine running in shallow water at the beach off Marina Del Rey about 9:50 p.m., said Los Angeles County lifeguard Lt. Warren Rigby.
The wife of the boat’s owner, who was not identified, said her husband had been working on the boat earlier in the day. His whereabouts were not known, and it was not clear whether he was on the boat at the time of the accident.
