TORONTO — Canadian police said today they have arrested a suspect in the 1986 machete murder of a North Carolina woman and the 1983 kidnaping and assault of a Connecticut woman.
Bobby Roger Hanson, 35, No. 8 on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List, was arrested Monday night after being featured Friday on an American crime show.
The Jamaica-born Hanson is wanted in connection with the death of elementary schoolteacher Joyce Anne Person, 28, who was hacked to death with a machete, doused with gasoline and set on fire in her Franklin, N.C., trailer home on July 24, 1986.
Hanson is also wanted in Connecticut on a warrant for kidnaping and assault on another woman in 1983.
Toronto police described Hanson as a ladies’ man who has lived and worked in the city since shortly after Person’s death.
