UAL Confident of Heathrow Deal: UAL Corp., parent of United Airlines, said it is confident U.S. and British transportation officials can cut a deal over crucial landing rights at London’s Heathrow airport when talks resume at the end of the month. A third round of talks between the two governments ended this week in Washington without resolution on the transfer of landing rights at Heathrow to UAL from Pan Am Corp. The new round will begin Jan. 28. Each failure to approve the transfer is particularly bad news for New York-based Pan Am. UAL is providing Pan Am with money as it works to emerge from chapter 11.
