Pico Rivera : El Rancho School District Gets New Superintendent

Fernando Elizondo, 47, has become superintendent of the El Rancho Unified School District. He left a job as superintendent of the Parlier Unified School District near Fresno to accept the $90,000 post in Pico Rivera.
Former El Rancho superintendent Thomas Sakalis retired last June.
In 22 years in public education, Elizondo has taught in Los Angeles and worked as an administrator in the Oxnard, Riverside and Santa Paula school systems. He attended Humboldt State University and received a doctorate in education from USC.
The El Rancho district has 13 schools and 13,000 students.
