Lynwood : Parking on Imperial Hwy. Banned During Peak Hours
- Share via
Commuters resigned to traffic snarls and bumper-to-bumper congestion on Imperial Highway through Lynwood may soon see an improvement.
During peak traffic hours, parking will not be allowed along the highway within the city limits. Commuters will be able to drive in the lane usually reserved for parking. The parking restriction will be imposed from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The City Council took the action Tuesday to improve travel along the three-mile corridor. More than 40,000 motorists use the east-west route daily.
The change is expected to start in about a month, said Emilio Murga, director of public works.
