Cerritos : Members of 3 Commissions to Get Flat Monthly Salaries
- Share via
A resolution creating a flat monthly salary for members of three commissions has been passed by the Cerritos City Council.
The ordinance does not dramatically raise the commissioners’ compensation but, in the past, they were paid for the meetings they attended. Now they will receive their pay whether they attend or not.
For example, members of the Planning Commission, which meets twice a month, will receive $150 a month, rather than the $75 per meeting they used to receive. Members of the Parks and Recreation and Property Preservation commissions will receive $50 monthly whether they attend meetings or not. They meet once a month.
Mayor Ann B. Joynt said the council decided to pay the commissioners flat salaries because much of the work they do is carried on outside their meetings.
