Thai Publisher Says He May Bid for UPI: Sondhi Limthongkul said he and a group of Hong Kong industrialists may bid for United Press International. Sondhi is a former journalist who heads the Manager group of companies, which is based in Bangkok, Thailand. The group has interests in publishing, computers and telecommunications. Sondhi said he would be in the United States next week to discuss the bid with UPI executives. He refused to say exactly how much his group would pay for UPI, but said it would consider investing about $20 million. A spokesman declined to confirm or deny the report.
