I am a close observer of current events and have been so for more than 40 years. I do not recall a chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff ever giving the details of his operations to the American public in a manner befitting a salesman: chart after chart and no real data. It seems to me that function belongs to someone with less responsibility; his performance demeans the office and its responsibilities.
