Rider Scores 41 in Runaway Win for Antelope Valley

J.R. Rider scored 41 points and had 11 rebounds and teammate Tony Madison scored 27 points as the Antelope Valley College men’s basketball team ran past host Barstow, 110-84, in a Foothill Conference game Monday night.
Gerald Haynes had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Ennis Wesley added 13 points for Antelope Valley (21-5, 11-2 in conference play). Barstow fell to 4-9 in conference play.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Alemany 75, Bishop Montgomery 69--Junior forward Richard Dice scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and teammate Will Burr scored a game-high 28 points as host Alemany (9-15, 4-7) won a Mission League game Monday night.
Joe Hadnott scored a team-high 20 points for Bishop Montgomery.
Oakwood 62, Yeshiva 56--Telly Roberts had 22 points and 15 rebounds and Shathan Roberts added 12 points for host Oakwood (8-10, 5-3) in a Liberty League game.
Providence 73, Windward 32--Chris Jones scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while teammate Barry Dabbaghian chipped in 12 points for Providence (12-10, 5-2) in a Liberty League game at Windward.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Moorpark 9, Rio Hondo 0--Right-hander Mike Jenkins (1-0) pitched six strong innings, allowing just one hit and striking out 12 in a nonconference game at Moorpark.
Chris Chandler went three for four for Moorpark (2-2) and drove in two runs. Del Marine and Jeff Sommers each went two for four and also drove in two runs. Rio Hondo (0-1) managed just two hits.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
St. Genevieve 61, Bell-Jeff 37--Carlisa Hamagaki scored a game-high 22 points and teammates Alberta and Christina Muller scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, to pace visiting St. Genevieve (16-6, 6-2) to a San Fernando Valley League win.
Rosana Ruiz led Bell-Jeff (15-9, 4-4) with 10 points.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Birmingham 4, Marshall 0--Birmingham (6-3-1, 5-3-1) clinched the Northwest Valley Conference title with a shutout win at Marshall.
Erin Saltzman scored three goals for the Braves and Melissa Klepetar added one.
El Camino Real 3, Granada Hills 0--Tatum Mahoney scored two goals and Tina Noriega added one for El Camino Real (12-2 overall) in a West Valley League match at Granada Hills.
Alemany 2, Bishop Montgomery 0--Michelle Bush and Sandy Bennett each scored a goal in a Mission League match at Alemany (12-9-2, 7-2-1). With the win, Alemany retains a share of first place with Louisville.
