Sony Unit to Build TV Plant in U.S.: Sony Engineering & Manufacturing of America, a Sony Corp. unit, said it will invest about $70 million to build a color television manufacturing plant in New Stanton, Pa. The unit announced in April, 1990, that it would spend $300 million on a factory to make large-screen color television picture tubes. The TV plant will be in addition to that factory. Sony expects both facilities to be operating by late 1992.
